REVIEWS
  • Somalisa Camp Hwange consists of two tented camps set a short way apart from each other and offering a truly exceptional bush-safari experience.  The tents are located among a line of Acacia Tortillus trees where elephants love to forage for pods, a highly sought after and nutritious snack for these giant pachyderms.  Somalisa comprises Somalisa Main Camp and Somalisa Acacia Camp, both set close together in the heart of Hwange National Park, on a private concession.  The area is known as the "land of the giants" because of its big elephant herds. The stunning location of the camps, tucked away on an acacia island along the edge of an ancient seasonal flood plain provides guests with breathtaking views of the savanna plains across the famous Kennedy Vlei line.  Activities include guided walks, which are lead by qualified and passionate guides who will share their knowledge and love of the bush with you.  One can also participate in Hwange safari game drives and night drives.  Wildlife sightings can include elephant, kudu, sable antelope, zebra, wildebeest, gemsbok, the rare and endangered roan antelope, buffalo, giraffe, white rhino, lion, leopard, hyena, and many other wildlife species.
  • Here are a few special highlights found in Hwange that we've picked out :-

    • Zimbabwe’s biggest National Park is home to big game including lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, giraffe and the rare wild dog
    • Numerous waterholes in the form of open pans attract diverse species of wildlife in large numbers – a great place to be at sunset
    • Bird enthusiasts should look out for iconic species like Crowned Cranes and Secretary Birds that are often seen in Hwange
    • Private concessions and well managed public park areas mean animal sightings are not over crowded
