Savuti Camp is situated in the private Linyanti Concession along the Savute Channel, famous for the fact that between 1980 and 2008 it stopped flowing altogether, creating an unusual ribbon of grassland. Surprisingly, the Channel began to flow once more, becoming a deep, clear waterway harbouring hippo and aquatic life while wildlife had to adapt to a new source of water and all the opportunities and menaces it brought with it. This intimate camp's en-suite accommodation is in seven large walk-in tents that are raised off the ground and face onto the Channel. From the camp's thatched dining area, a plunge pool and large viewing area with fire pit extend outwards on raised wooden decks, providing a wonderful view of the water and its wildlife.
Here are a few special highlights found in Linyanti that we've picked out:-
Home to the exceptional Savute Channel, Selinda Spillway and Linyanti River
Along with huge elephant herds the area is also home to healthy predator numbers including a high number of endangered wild dog
An enormous wildlife-rich area with unrivalled remoteness and space
Diverse activities, on land and water, for a varied experience of the area and wildlife
Seven tented chalets including one family tent
Each tent has a deck at the front allowing comfortable viewing of the goings-on along the water way
Viewing deck overlooks a permanent waterhole
ACCESS Savuti Camp can be accessed by air and road. Fly in to Chobe 1 Airstrip, which its towards the north end of the Savuti channel. It is then about a 30 minute road transfer.
