Ongava Tented Camp is located in a 30 000-hectare private reserve that shares a boundary with Etosha National Park, Namibia's premier wildlife destination. Situated in hill country in the centre of the reserve, the lodge is built out of rock, thatch and canvas and overlooks a waterhole that is floodlit at night. Activities at Ongava Tented Camp revolve around professionally guided game drives in an open 4X4 in the Ongava Reserve - home to both black and white rhino - as well as the Okaukuejo area of Etosha where classic African mammals such as elephant, giraffe and zebra plus many antelope species are often seen in large numbers. It's also a region famous for its predators - lion and cheetah are relatively common - and you can also experience the thrill of night drives and nature walks in the private reserve.
Here are a few special highlights found in Etosha that we've picked out:-
Etosha National Park is a massive 2 270 000 hectares (5 500 000 acres) in size
The saltpan at Etosha is a vast white surface that is visible from space
Etosha’s waterholes attract a high density of big game all year round
Eight Meru-style tents all with en-suite facilities
Open air showers
Swimming pool and a veranda
ACCESS Ongava Tented Camp can be accessed by self-drive or air and transfer Directions: - The entrance to the Ongava Reserve is on the C38, just before the Andersson Gate into Etosha National Park, on the left when arriving from the south. Once in the reserve, Ongava Tented Camp is clearly signposted along a gravel road, about a 30-minute drive during which you are likely to spot antelope such as kudu and oryx.
