Luxury Lodge | Gonarezhou
Chilo Gorge Safari Lodge is located in a magical setting on the edge of the Save River, overlooking Gonarezhou National Park, in the remote south east corner of Zimbabwe. It is a boutique style venue with a passionate and holistic approach to conservation, hospitality and community. Perched on the edge of a cliff, Chilo commands superb views up and down the wide Save River. The lodge is situated on a large private wildlife concession and is positioned along the eastern cliff edge of Chilo Gorge, just upstream of where the river fans out again and meanders on through a flatter landscape. Directly across the river is Gonarezhou National Park, where the lodge's guides conduct daily safari drives and walks. This is Zimbabwe's second largest park, after Hwange, a truly pristine wilderness area. The lodge accommodation consists of 10 luxuriously appointed individual thatched chalets with twin or double king appointments that are sold on an all inclusive basis. There are also self catering options at Chilo that comprise a further four chalets that share an extensive kitchen, as well as a family lodge that can sleep up to six people.
Here are a few special highlights found in Gonarezhou that we've picked out :-
Access is by road transfer, own vehicle (last 40km is slow going on rocky dirt road - 4x4 preferable) or air access (into Buffalo range and then transfer or Chilo's own airstrip - is 5 minutes drive from the lodge).
