  • Baines’ River Camp is a luxurious and intimate safari lodge with just eight double suites, set on the northern bank of the Zambezi River amid Tamarind and Jackalberry trees.  This true colonial-style safari lodge offers a wide variety of activities in and around the Lower Zambezi National Park, including specialized photographic workshops, fly fishing clinics, elephant studies and birding weeks, each hosted by internationally renowned expert guides who are passionate about the African bush.  Baines’ River Camp offers a choice of eight Explorer Suites with either King or Twin beds. Each of these individual colonial style safari suites, named after different African Explorers, commands its own view of the Zambezi River from a comfortably furnished verandah.  Decorated with rich, classical fabrics, colourful kelims, natural hardwood timbers, leather and finished with air-conditioning, a ceiling fan, cotton percale linen, pure down pillows and duvets, complimentary mini-bar with coffee and tea making facilities, a personal safe for your valuables and a hair dryer, the Explorer Suites take luxury to the limits in the Zambezi Valley.

    • The air-conditioning in suite only operates during the running hours of the camp’s generator. The inverter system will allow for the operation of bedside lights, bathroom lights and ceiling fans throughout the night.
    • Complimentary launry service
    • Power at the camp is supplied through a super-silent 240V generator which is operational during limited periods of the day. At night, and during certain parts of the day, when the generator is switched off, a battery operated inverter system will provide limited power in the Explorer Suites. Certain areas of the main lodge area are also connected to an inverter system.
    • Wireless internet connectivity anywhere in the main lodge area.
    • Two private work stations with leather swivel chairs in quiet surrounds for guests’ use.
    • All boats and vehicles are fitted with a mobile radio that will ensure contact with the camp. For emergencies, the camp operates a satellite telephone.
    • The camp operates three Toyota Landcruiser open game-drive vehicles, four motorised aluminium boats in various sizes for river activities and four canoes.



    Baines River Camp can be accessed by Air or Road.

    BY AIR :-  It can be accessed by air from Livingstone, Lusaka, Mfuwe or from other destinations.

    BY ROAD :- A 4 x 4 vehicle is recommended.
