Below we highlight the 4 lodges of Imvelo at Hwange.
Bomani Tented Lodge
Remote, exclusive and filled with excitement – and all on your own schedule. Bomani boasts tailored experiences for each guest on private 5000 acre reserve within the Ngamo Forest Area. Year round game viewing and just 15 minutes drive to their private gate into Hwange, Bomani comprises of just 11 tents and 1 thatched family bungalo, with the main lodge providing an open dining room, bar and lounge, all built on an incredible viewing platform overlooking the Bomani Pan.
Care to live amongst Elephants? Luxury accommodations deep inside a private concession overlook the lodge pan teeming with large number of elephants. Within reach of multiple habitats, each day at Nehimba brings a different wildlife viewing experience. Nehimba holds 9 large thatched safari tents including a Honeymoon Suite and 2 Family Suites, each with it’s own private balcony providing an open view of the pan and watering holes, en-suite bathrooms and outdoor showers with hot running water. Don’t forget the pool with a view (and some thirsty visitors).
Placed within one of Hwange’s last remaining un-spoilt acacia woodlands, at the southeastern corner of the park, Camelthorn is a flagship lodge to visit. The main lodge is built around a giant ancient Camelthorn tree that sprawls the 35 metre outdoor dining area. Eight luxurious forest villas are cool in the warmer seasons yet cozy in the cooler seasons. Each consists of a private ground level deck, upstairs outdoor maisonette with hammock and day bed, private en-suite bathroom with bath and feature window overlooking the woodlands, large shower and fireplace. And underground hide in front of an ideally placed watering hole, provides guest the opportunity to see and photograph wildlife at a distance of just 25 feet.
For those looking for untamed wilderness and adventure, the Jozibanini property from Imvelo is not to be missed. In the remote southwest of Hwange, this is a truly small and exclusive camp for the wildest experiences, leading the way in Hwange of lodges providing experiences in the most remote and unique of environments. Recommended as a two-day add on from staying at another Imvelo lodge, adventurists guests will enjoy participating in the “pump run”, resupplying waterholes en route from Bomani, Camelthorn or Nehimba. An extended game drive with an incredible picnic lunch along the way.
At 14,651 sq km, Hwange National Park is the largest NP in Zimbabwe and one of Africa’s greatest. With an incredible diversity of wildlife and environment, Hwange is not to be missed.
